Agen

Agen is a very old town, which was reunited with France in 1472, after the death of Louis the 11th. There are so many places worth a visit, like the medieval churches, the cathedral, the old private hotels, the archaeological museum, and the art museum, which shows a beautiful Goya collection. You can either walk along the Garonne River or board on a boat on the Canal du Midi. The medieval quarters are pleasant and so is the farmers market. A two thousand-year old town, from the Gallo Roman period Agen became a crossroads on the Bordeaux-Toulouse route connecting the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. The remains conserved at the Fine Art Museum testify to the influence of Aginnum in this period. Agen changed hands eleven times; they left the example of architecture , . Alienor d’Aquitaine, Richard Cœur de Lion, Simon de Monfort… The Agen art of living includes varied and exotic « cuisine ». this is a rich region where the quality of our products is unequalled. But the visitor to Agen must taste the famous Prune. A fruit for dessert or savoury dishes, its virtues are infinite, tonic and world famous..
