Amboise is one of the cities of the Val de Loire region with the most ancient history because its particular geographic location. During the Middle Ages in 1429 Joan of Arc passed through the city. Amboise is added to the king's possessions in 1434, It became a royal residence and Charles VII, Louis XI, Charles VII and François 1 enlarged, transformed and modified the castle. In 1516 François 1 invited Leona do da Vinci here and lived in the Clos-Lucé until his dead in 1519. In the 18 century, there was renewal of activities here thanks to Choiseul, the famous minister of Louis XV. In th 19th century, Napoleon made Amboise a senatorial manor.
