Barfleur is a small seaside resort today. A very old foundation, Roman port then Viking, it was the first port of Cotentin during the Middle Ages and attended by the dukes and England kings. The very many shipwrecks always in the neighbourhoods justified creation, since 1865, of a station of rescue which is one of most modern of France. The boat the "Crestey et Sauvé" which had the name of two sailor-rescuers missing at sea in 1893. This boat can be put at water, even at the low-sea, in a few minutes. 1865 until our days, the prize list is eloquent, it testifies that solidarity is not a vain word in the world of the sea!
