Cambrai famous in annals of the First World War, is a traditional Flemish city, during a long time associated at the trade of the textile and where the fine cambric was manufactured. In spite of the destruction due to the war, Cambrai remains picturesque, with its old paved streets bordered of houses from 17th and 18th centuries, its elegant squares and a large park with many sculptures, which expanse area all around the citadel of Vauban, from 17th century. The belfry of the city hall was built in 1786, and carries two high bronze characters 2 m and dressed as Maures people, they announce each hour by striking the bell of their mallet.
